Bid Opener Options - Administration

You can set options in the Bid Express Bid Opener utility to make it easier to use. You can set the folder for your opened bids and automatically print all the .ebs and .ebsx files.  You can also enter proxy settings for your servers.

Application Directory

The Application Directory is where the Bid Opener utility places all the opened bids. You can change this directory.

  1. Select Manage Lettings, Proposals and Bids in the Letting and Vendor Data section of the Manage Agency page. This brings you to the Manage Lettings page.

  2. Select a letting whose date has already passed.

  3. Select Open Bids in the upper right corner.  The Bid Express service goes to the Open Bids page.

  4. Click LAUNCH OPEN BIDS.  The Bid Express service opens the Bid Express Bid Opener.

  5. Select Options from the Tools menu. The Bid Express service opens the Options window.

  6. Click change folder to select a new folder for your bids.

  7. Navigate to and select the new folder location and click ok. The Bid Opener utility changes the location of the bid folder and displays the path in the Application Directory section.

  8. Click ok to close the Bid Opener utility.

If you want to change it back to the default location, click restore default while you are still in the utility.

Printing Options

You can automatically print the .ebs and .ebsx files and reports after a bid opening. For instructions on printing the .ebs files for a specific letting, please see Print EBS Files.

  1. Select Manage Lettings, Proposals and Bids in the Letting and Vendor Data section of the Manage Agency page. This brings you to the Manage Lettings page.

  2. Select your letting.

  3. Select Open Bids in the upper right corner.  The Bid Express service goes to the Open Bids page.

  4. Click LAUNCH OPEN BIDS.  The Bid Express service opens the Bid Express Bid Opener.

  5. Select Options from the Tools menu. The Bid Express service opens the Options window.

  6. In the Printing Options section, select the check boxes for the files and reports you want to automatically print after the bid opening.

  7. Select the Send unprocessed data to printer check box to print your documents faster. You must have a postscript printer in order to use this feature. Contact your IT department if you have any questions.

  8. Click save to close the Bid Opener utility.

The next time you open a bid letting, the Bid Express service displays a Print window. Select your printer and click ok.  The Bid Express service opens the bids and prints the selected files and reports.  

Attachments

Bidder attachment files for the Expedite software are zipped and displayed with the Manage Lettings information when you run the Open Bids utility.  Select the attachments option to place bidder attachments into their own sub-directory.

Proxy Settings

You can use proxy settings in the Bid Opener utility.  Work with your IT department to set the necessary options.  

  1. Select Manage Lettings, Proposals and Bids in the Letting and Vendor Data section of the Manage Agency page. This brings you to the Manage Lettings page.

  2. Select a letting whose date has already passed.

  3. Select Open Bids in the upper right corner.  The Bid Express service goes to the Open Bids page.

  4. Click LAUNCH OPEN BIDS.  The Bid Express service opens the Bid Express Bid Opener.

  5. If you are using the Bid component, select Proxy from the Options menu.  If you are using the Expedite Bid software, select Options from the Tools menu and click the proxy tab.

  6. Enter the information given to you by your IT department in the appropriate fields.

  7. Click test connection.

  8. If the proxy server connects, the Bid Opener utility displays a green check mark.  Click ok or save to close the Bid Opener utility.

  9. If the server does not connect, the Bid Opener utility displays a red X. Work with your IT department to fix any errors.
