New Mexico State Highway and Transportation Department Begins Official Production Use of Bid Express

Albuquerque, N.M. and Gainesville, Fla. – December 2002: Beginning with the December 2002 letting, the New Mexico State Highway and Transportation Department (NMSHTD) will offer its contracting community the use of the Bid Express website as an option to their traditional letting submittals (i.e. mailing, FAXing and electronic submittals). NMSHTD will be in full one-way production use of Bid Express meaning that the agency will post all letting information, including Expedite files, to the Bid Express website for easy access, viewing, and downloading by contractors.

NMSHTD completed its pilot testing of Bid Express and provided training for contractors during the second week of December as it prepared to "go live" with the system. At a later date, NMSHTD plans to implement Bid Express' full internet bid submission capabilities, which will allow contractors to use Bid Express to submit completed bids back to the agency securely via the Internet.

"We look forward to using the Bid Express system as the best way to provide complete, time-sensitive letting information and data to our contracting community," said Larry Velasquez with the NMSHTD. Contractors who wish to start using Bid Express can visit the Bid Express website at www.bidx.com or call Bid Express customer support at 1-888-352-2439 for more information.

Bid Express is a web-based bidding information service developed exclusively for the highway construction industry. By using Bid Express, contractors can save time needed for preparing and submitting bids and bid bonds on paper. Simple screens allow contractors to quickly scan all current lettings, and a search function is available for keyword information on current lettings and bid tab data from previous lettings.

Subscribers to Bid Express have access to lettings from across the country -- not just those of their home state -- and real-time bid results are available. Bid Express is already in production use in eight state departments of transportation, with six additional states in various stages of implementation and testing.

Bid Express is offered by Info Tech, Inc. Info Tech software is installed in 38 state departments of transportation, several hundred US cities and counties and two foreign countries, performing a wide range of functions from project estimation to contract administration to electronic bidding.
