Bid Item 110 Containment

There is a bid item for containment (item 110). I do not know what this is for. Does this item need to be deleted or does a painting item need to be added?

Painting is not required. As indicated in the General Notes, the scrape sample from paint on the existing expansion plates indicates total lead levels that exceed 35,000 PPM. Thus, the paint is assumed to be hazardous. The Containment Bid Item is provided for the containment of paint waste that may be displaced during removal of the existing expansion plates at the abutments. Requirements for containment are provided in Section 2508 of the Standard Specification.
