Manage Small Business Network Work Types - Administration

Work types briefly describe the type of work a prime contractor may look for in a sub-quote request or what a subcontractor is qualified to perform. You can set the work types for the Bid Express Small Business Network.

You can add or change work types, import work types, or mark them as obsolete. Work types cannot be deleted.

Adding a Work Type

To add a work type to the Small Business Network:

  1. Click Manage Work Types from the SBN section of the Manage Agency page.  The Bid Express service takes you to the Manage SBN Work Types page.

  2. Click Add a new work type.  The Bid Express service opens a field in which you can enter the work type.

  3. Enter the work type name in the available field. You can include a number, but it must include a description of the work type.

  4. Click save, then click ok in the add work type confirmation window. The Bid Express service adds the work type to the Work Type list.

Changing a Work Type

You can change the work type. These changes are made throughout the Bid Express Small Business Network, including requests that have been created by a prime contractor and the subcontractor's selected work types.

 To change a work type:

  1. Click Manage Work Types from the SBN section of the Manage Agency page.  The Bid Express service takes you to the Manage SBN Work Types page.

  2. Click Edit in the Edit column for the work type you wish to change.

  3. Change the work type in the displayed field.

  4. Click save.

  5. Click ok in the change confirmation window.

The Bid Express service updates the work type throughout the Bid Express SBN.

Marking a Work Type Obsolete or Active

When a work type is no longer in use, mark it as obsolete so it can no longer be selected for use in the Bid Express Small Business Network. Work types cannot be deleted.

  1. Click Manage Work Types from the SBN section of the Manage Agency page.  The Bid Express service takes you to the Manage SBN Work Types page.

  2. Click Edit in the Edit column for the work type you wish to mark obsolete.

  3. Click Mark Obsolete and click ok in the obsolete confirmation window.

  4. The Bid Express service marks the work type obsolete and removes it from the active work types list.

You can mark a work type active after it is marked obsolete.

  1. Click Manage Work Types from the SBN section of the Manage Agency page.  The Bid Express service takes you to the Manage SBN Work Types page.

  2. Click View Obsolete Work Types.

  3. Find your work type and click Mark Active.  

  4. Click ok in the active confirmation window

The work type becomes active.

Importing Work Types

You can upload work types into the Bid Express Small Business Network. Once uploaded, the work types cannot be deleted, though they can be marked obsolete.

  1. Click Manage Work Types from the SBN section of the Manage Agency page.  The Bid Express service takes you to the Manage SBN Work Types page.

  2. Click Upload SBN Work Types in the upper right corner. The Bid Express service brings you to the Upload SBN Work Types page.

  3. Click browse to navigate to the work types file.

  4. Select the text file and click open, then click upload.

The Bid Express service uploads the file of work types and includes them in the Work Types list.
